This session will be dedicated to the study of wartime rights and law of people to the recent assertion of humanitarian law. This meeting will be held at the CEGES or Centre for Historical Research and Documentation on War and Contemporary Society. Participants will therefore pay special attention to conflicts in the early twentieth century. Testing of the body of law during the two world wars and its necessary adjustments will be the subject of careful scrutiny.

Cette séance se concentrera sur l'étude du droit de la guerre et du droit des gens jusqu'à l'élaboration récente du droit humanitaire. La rencontre se déroulera au CEGES Centre d'études et de documentation - Guerres et sociétés contemporaines. Les participants porteront donc une attention particulière aux conflits de la première moitié du XXe siècle. La mise à l'épreuve du corpus juridique au cours des deux conflits mondiaux et ses nécessaires adaptations feront l'objet d'un examen attentif. Intervenants : Laurence Van Ypersele, professeur d'histoire contemporaine à l'université catholique de Louvain. L'évolution des rapports entre les institutions belges restées en place et l'occupant au début de la Grande Guerre. Emmanuel Debruyne, chargé de recherches FNRS.
